After reviewing my experiences with the practice sessions through -out this course, I found that the loving kindness and creative visualization exercises benefited me the most. I found that both exercises allowed me to give and receive my natural nurturing abilities to myself and others, and creatively visualize past and future happiness. Other practice sessions during the course like the subtle mind exercise, asked for individuals to take a deep breath and clear their mind. Taking deep breaths was supposed to assist in staying on track during the healing process, but I had difficulty keeping my minds noise from rising.  Therefore I was not receiving the full benefit from the exercise.
I felt the loving kindness and creative visualization exercise was more beneficial because it was fulfilling and easy to accomplish. By going back in time so to speak, helped me confirm that I allowed temporary issues to change me, and I could not recognize myself anymore. I need to remember the important aspects in my life in order to return to “normal” or at least put me on the right path to improving my mind, body, and spirit.

Hello Lgordon, It is great that you have found practices that work for you. I think that by continuing to practice the others you will find benefits in them as you get better at your inner development. At least that is what I am trying to do. I did find benefits in all of the practices and some more so than others. The loving kindness practice helps to develop the nurturing aspect of me as well. I believe I practice this on a regular basis, however, not in a meditative way. Does that make sense? I find the subtle mind and the breath focus very helpful all of the time. Breath work can help one focus, train the mind, develop the inner self, sleep better, lower blood pressure, and calm emotions. The list is endless really. Breath work is one I recommend highly! Good luck and keep at it~
ReplyDeleteHola,
ReplyDeleteI understand exactly what you mean by the confirmation of change. I too saw by means of these exercises how much of me I lost through the years and how these practices do help you acquire that part of you that was changed dramatically by life’s vices. I am slowly seeing the old me resurfacing and I can really say, I missed me, and I am glad I am coming back.
Gracias,
JaeC
I picked the same practices in my blog as well. Like you, some of those other practices really gave me a hard time because of the same issue you had which also did not allow me to benefit from it fully. I am glad that there were a couple that you did find helpful and hopefully if practiced enough maybe you’ll discover that there are others that didn’t work now that may work later. I hope you can use these practices to stay healthy and that you use them when you do feel like times are tough. I think the loving kindness exercise really worked because we studied this around the holidays when most people share their love between their loved ones. I hope you enjoyed your holidays and hopefully you had a smile on your face the entire vacation because it really does help mentally and physically.
ReplyDeleteYou and I have the same type of thought as far as the enjoyment of exercises. I tended to enjoy the exercises that I could relate to most, because I am all about "positivity and positive thinking". I have truly seen the fruits of this. This class however allowed me to take this to a whole different level. I so love it!! This is one class I can say that I will utilize in my everyday life.
