Due to the daily stresses of life, my body has been feeling the unwelcome side effects of tension, especially the back. The tension has been causing restless and many sleepless nights. When I realized the assignment was to listen to a meditation exercise, I eagerly jumped at the possible benefits, and turned off all distractions. The relaxation technique was wonderful. I was able to close my eyes and listen to the calm voice of the instructor, soothing music, my heartbeat, blood flowing through my veins, and the unfamiliar sensation of muscles uncoiling. I was able to relax my body enough that I fell into a light but restful sleep for an hour. Well, the daily stresses returned, and my body remembers the relaxing experience with fondness. Now, I have to find time to do it more often.
Well at least you got a much needed break. Isn't it sad that we have to have meditation as an assignment to do it? I think that what is becoming a key for me is that I continue to meditate regularly and I am able to carry those feelings with me more often. I personally need to do more things that are beneficial because the stress in my life can become overwhelming. Maybe we will be required to do a meditation next week also!
ReplyDeleteMeditation is a wonderful way to relax. I learned my favorite meditation when I was 15. I would do it every night to help me unwind and then I would fall asleep. I got the most restful sleep whenever I did it. I have been trying other meditations throughout my life but none of them compare to the one I found that year. I am now in my thirties and still find myself returning to that specific meditation. Oh it is so relaxing. I hope that you have found your favorite meditation. :)
