If I measured my own health from 0-10, 10 being optimal wellbeing, I would rate my health a 4. This is only because I am holding onto hope. Integral health is evolutionary and dynamic, and empowers one to explore and become self cultivating and generating (Dacher, 2006). This is one of the reasons I need to heal myself by dealing with one issue at a time.
My current emotional, physical, and spiritual issues have made my existing health issues worsen. I plan to resolve this issue soon in order to heal the areas that were drained. In the future, for emotional stability, I will try to stop dwelling on issues that I have no power to change at that moment. Physical stability, I will remove myself from unhealthy environments that increase BP, insomnia, and stomach problems. For spiritual stability, I can regain my-self worth and the ability to trust my own judgment.
I found I was unable to relax while listening to “The Crime of the Century” exercise. It is a good concept to have light images helps you feel grounded, but the instructor was giving instructions and explanations too often. The instructions to the exercise should have been given before exercise began, and his voice was not calming enough. I personally could not get into the exercise.

Great observations LaVenus! I think you are directionally correct with where you are going and with your approach. I often find myself overwhelmed when I tackle too many things at the same time and it can seem overwhelming. My typical reaction is to not do anything, but some progress is better than no progress. Moving in the direction of your likes and dreams is important. It’s like setting an intention towards change. Once our choices become aligned with what we want to see more of in our lives, things will begin to change. I say this, but at the same time I realize that the realization of true integral healing will require my working on the biological, psychospiritual, interpersonal, and worldly of my experience. For it to be lasting and authentic, all facets of my human experience must be addressed.
ReplyDeleteI wish you the best in your healing journey. While it is sometimes difficult and frustrating, try not to give up on meditation. There is a phenomenal light meditation in this week’s reading and I found to be amazing. It helped me to realize how to identify the inner healer within and tap into it in times of need. It was transforming in that I always look for healing from an external source, but never thought of igniting my inner healing capabilities. All the best.
Hello LaVenus, I agree about the relaxation exercise. I can feel the light as warmth in my body and mind, however, I found the instructions distracting. I would rather relax to my own thoughts and abilities. I am glad you are working towards improving your health in all areas of mind/body/spirit. Being aware of where we need to improve is a great place to start....then we keep on moving forward in the process of developing a heath and wellness lifestyle!

Hi LaVenus,
ReplyDeleteYou are taking a giant leap in recognizing your strengths and weaknesses in mind, body, and spirit wellness. Eliminating negative people and environments is a great step in your healing process and evolution to reversing negative energy. I have been going through this process of eliminating negative factors in my environment for years and its well worth the sacrifice. Keep striving for peace and calmness and you will attain it! -Namaste
LaVenus,
ReplyDeleteIt seems that we have very similar goals for improving our emotional well-being. I usually stress about situations that I have no control over but when I take a step back and realize that this situation will not change as much as I get worried about it, I am usually able to focus on releasing that unwanted worry. In my experience, the best way to improve this is by practicing when situations occur.
I see what you mean about the relaxation techniques. The instructor did try and fit a lot of commands in a very little amount of time. When he was saying slowly inhale, I was still slowly exhaling. Maybe this is why I was unable to focus on this exercise for long.
Hello LaVenus
ReplyDeleteI was wondering why you rated yourself as a 4. My reason for wondering is how did your current emotional, physical, and spiritual issues make your existing health issues worse.
Just by reading your post, you should rate yourself higher in those area and give yourself some credit. You know what you want to do have set goals to do it. To me, you have a good head on your shoulders and are on your way to achieving the goals that you have set. Definitely keep up with the relaxation exercises because that will help you to deal with all areas of your life that you plan on improve. Have a nice evening!

LaVenus,
ReplyDeleteI agree with you about the exercise I was unable to relax either, I could my mind in relax modeall I kept thinking about was teh many things I still needed to get done! After reading your post I am concerned for you! I know being a mother of tweo you do not get much time to yourself. If you work and are going to school then the stress just seems to build up! You have to take care of yourself though, not only for your kids but because you will not be very productive if you are sick! I reccomend a nice bubble bath after the kids go to bed! Let Calgon take you away this is a good way to relax, maybe turn out the lights, light a candle and bring a book in and just soak in the silence and bubbles! You should feel a sense of peace let all your worries just melt away! Take care of you!!! :)
